Sufficient grace

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…” (NIV)*

Paul was given a thorn in the flesh and prayed three times for it to be removed. Instead of removing the thorn, God gave him grace to endure—empowered where Paul was weak.

How often I long for the situation to be changed, for things to be different. All the while he wants me to look to him for grace. Yes, he wants me to pour my heart out honestly. But there are times he wants to change me, rather than change the situation.

And his grace is sufficient; it’s enough to pull me through. Any mistakes are worked for good. Any sins forgiven. Anything needed to do his will—provided. Strength is given to endure.

When it’s all said and done, may I look back and affirm, his grace is sufficient indeed.
