Feet of God

Ezekiel 43:7 “He said, ‘Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet. This is where I will live among the Israelites forever.'” (NIV)*

He desires to live among his people. The temple of the Old Testament provided a place for him to be with them. Flash ahead to New Testament days where the believer—yes, we humans—are referred to as the temple of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 3:16).

Feet of God

gently treading by

remove your sandals here.

Unfurled crimson carpet

invites, waiting the

feet of God.

And how could the feet of God walk here, except by the sanctifying blood of Jesus?

You became mine

Ezekiel 16:8 “Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you…I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you…and you became mine.” (NIV)*

Remember, when I became yours

You covered me with love

Claimed my heart and healed my soul

Sacred promise, solemn oath.

…..

So, let the world fall away

Words as arrows sent my way

Let them fall to the ground

Since this heart in you is bound.

…..

Now, I find I’m not my own

All I am is yours to hold

Voices call but yours I choose

Your life to win—this world to loose.

As precious as the love of a husband, deeper still is the love of a Savior who saw and covered me with his garment of love. His oath is solemn and he holds me forever, filling a void an earthly husband’s love was never meant to satisfy. On July 18, 1974 I became his.

Safe in my shell

Ezekiel 11:19 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them, I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” (NIV)*

If I accepted a heart of flesh,

then, I’d have to feel…

I’m used to the way I am,

inside this covering of steel.

What would I do with a heart of flesh…

if others wept, would I weep too?

If they hurt, then I might hurt,

and then…what would I do?

Yes, it’s safer in this stone cold shell,

I can hide as life passes by…

so I’m saying no thanks

to that heart of flesh—

safe in my shell am I.

……….

Sad to say, that’s where I’d stay without the love of a Savior—saving me from myself and drawing me from this shell.

Hearts like water

Lamentations 2:19 “…pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord…” (NIV)*

Let it all out

like liquid flowing freely

the tipping pitcher poured,

emptied—before the Lord.

As Hannah, weeping for a child to hold.

As Mary, grieving her child—gone.

Holding nothing back

at his feet, splash.

Then, see what grows from seeds

watered by sweet release.
