What the world gives vs. what Jesus gives

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27*

Jesus does not give to us “as the world gives.” So, how does He give in contrast to the world?

The world gives temporary happy—

Jesus gives lasting joy.

The world gives an unsettled discontent—

Jesus gives unexplainable peace.

The world offers riches that vanish quickly—

Jesus gives treasure that lasts forever.

The world’s gods are pretty but fake—

Jesus is real through and through.

The world serves food that leaves one hungry—

Jesus gives bread that satisfies the soul.

The world claps loudly in the moment—

Jesus gives never-ending, unconditional love.

The world gives up and moves on when we fail—

Jesus remembers that we are dust.
