Held secure

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Choosing a candidate to vote for in this year’s election left me uncertain. I had to edit out a lot of jargon to get down to issues that mattered most. And even then, still wondered if I was doing the right thing…

And then, on election day, I came across this: Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Not the future. Not powers. Nothing in all creation. The highest mountain, the deepest ocean, the farthest star in the sky can’t separate us from God.

Whatever direction our country takes, those who follow God will continue to be gripped in his arms forever. We are held secure in his love.

No leader or politician can rip us from his grasp; nothing can disconnect us from his love. God’s love is constant and sure, all-encompassing and far reaching. His love is greater than election outcomes.

Lord, let fear and uncertainty fall away.

You reign sovereignly over all and your love endures forever.

Thank you.

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or power or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:16-17
