He exalts

“Wait for the Lord and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land …” Psalm 37:34

Oh Sacred One there standing

Grant me now your favor.

Oblige this soul to know

The blessing of the Savior.

No longer exalting self

My Lord stands at the helm.

He alone lifts up

To a higher, unseen realm.

Our part is to wait for the Lord. To walk in daily obedience to his Word and follow as his Spirit leads. It is not our place to exalt ourselves. He alone, the exalted one, lifts up.

The train station

Philippians 3:20 “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (NIV)*

At the station, trains are running all the time. Random entries and speedy exits. Tracks going on all levels and directions.

One could find an empty corner or bench, and maybe even sleep in a train station. One can eat at a train station. All the family can huddle in a designated area and unload the suitcases…but who wants to do that?

We’re at the train station to find a way to our destination. Always an eye on the posted arrivals and departures. Tickets ready—we eagerly await the desired train.

Not unlike a train station, our lives on earth are spent waiting for a train to take us to the next destination, to our real citizenship. We eagerly await the Savior.

The trick is to live this life to the full, yet not forget…it’s only the train station.
